Milan Design Week is an essential event on the global design calendar, and this year proved no exception. With an estimated 500,000 visitors exploring Salone Del Mobile, the energy and innovation on display were truly remarkable. Ronan Haslette represented our team at the event, connecting with industry partners and observing the shifts that will shape interior joinery and furniture manufacturing in the coming years.
A takeaway from Milan Design Week was the trend towards soft curved finishes. It seems designers are moving away from sharp, square edges, favouring softer, organic shapes that bring natural warmth into living spaces. This perfectly complements the increasing demand for high-quality wood veneer components. We also noticed a trend towards more organic and earthy colours in matte finishes, which offer a subtle, sophisticated look.
Another interesting theme at Milan Design Week was the seamless integration of technology into everyday surfaces and home appliances. Alongside this, there was a strong focus on the adaptable, functional use of space in both the kitchens and bedrooms, ensuring that beautiful design remains highly practical.

We were delighted to spend time at the ALPI stand, where they showcased their spectacular new collections. Their 2026 products beautifully balance Piero Lissoni's structured restraint with Yabu Pushelberg's dreamy imagination, broadening the aesthetic possibilities of wood. These new ranges highlight complementary tones and colours that blend natural warmth with sustainable surfaces. As a dedicated family business, we are proud to partner with ALPI to bring these exceptional, eco-friendly materials to our clients in Ireland and the UK.
